The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from February 19 to March 9 next year, with March 10 reserved as a potential reserve day. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has started looking for a suitable window for the event.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled a crucial match for their team against arch-rival India on March 1 in Lahore as part of the Champions Trophy. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to agree to the provisional schedule. A senior ICC board member informed PTI of this development on Wednesday.
For the first time since 1996, Pakistan will host a major ICC tournament, although it hosted the entire Asia Cup in 2008 and some matches of the same tournament last year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to officially confirm whether it will send the national team to Pakistan for the ICC tournament.
Proposed Venues for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
According to reports, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has presented a 15-match schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy. All of India’s matches have been scheduled in Lahore for security and logistical reasons.
An ICC board member said, “The PCB has presented a draft for the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven matches will be held in Lahore, three in Karachi, and five in Rawalpindi. The opening match will be in Karachi, while the two semifinals will be in Karachi and Rawalpindi. Additionally, the final will be held in Lahore. All Indian matches (including the semifinal if the team qualifies) will be held in Lahore.”
Groups for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
India has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B includes Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan. Recently, ICC’s Head of Events, Chris Tetley, met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad, when the security team inspected the venues and other arrangements.
