A big update has come out regarding the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy. According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board has made a very unique demand from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. In fact, the PCB has said that the BCCI should give in writing that the Indian government has not given permission to play in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board wants the BCCI to give written proof that the Indian government has refused to allow Team India to visit Pakistan for next year’s Champions Trophy, citing security reasons. This has been said in the report quoting a PCB source.
The report further states that Pakistan wants the issue to be resolved quickly. The report also states that the ICC’s annual conference will be held in Colombo on July 19, in which discussion on the ‘hybrid model’ is not on the agenda. Under this, the Indian team will play its matches in the UAE.

In the report, a PCB source said, if the Indian government has not given permission, then it has to be given in writing and the BCCI should give that letter to the ICC immediately. We have been constantly saying that the BCCI should inform the ICC in writing about the team’s tour of Pakistan for the tournament five to six months in advance.
The BCCI has always said that the decision to play in Pakistan will be that of the government and in the 2023 ODI Asia Cup also, India’s matches were played in Sri Lanka on a hybrid model. The PCB has submitted the draft of the Champions Trophy schedule to the ICC, in which all India’s matches, semi-finals and finals will be held in Lahore. At the same time, the match between India and Pakistan is to be held on March 1.
Team India did not go to Pakistan in Asia Cup too
Earlier, the 2023 Asia Cup was also hosted by Pakistan. However, Team India had clearly refused to go to Pakistan. Then this tournament was played in a hybrid model. In the 2023 Asia Cup, Team India played its matches in Sri Lanka. So far, the BCCI has not issued any official statement regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, many reports have claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has demanded a hybrid model from the ICC.
