Samson sustained a knee injury while trying to take a catch in the 1st T20I of the 3 match T20I series against SriLanka. Samson was ruled out for the remainder of the series and was also not named for the white-ball fixtures against New Zealand.

However, it has been reported that he is recovering well and will come back in action soon. As per reports, he has decided to skip rehab training at the NCA and is currently training with a personal physio in Kochi.

The report also states that Samson is currently waiting for clearance from the BCCI to participate in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Samson plays for Kerala in the domestic tournaments and the fans might see him in action in the knockout stages of Ranji Trophy if Kerala manages to qualify for the next round.

Meanwhile Ruturaj Gaikwad is reported to be unfit for upcoming India vs New Zealand T20I series. Prithvi Shaw and Sanju Samson could be the perfect replacements for Ruturaj Gaikwad.
