India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is currently away from international cricket. Bumrah suffered an injury during the last match of the Australia tour, after which he was advised to rest. It is expected that he will return to action in the IPL. Recently, he was also seen practicing. However, a shocking update regarding Bumrah’s fitness has surfaced, which could be a big setback for Mumbai Indians.
Major Setback for Jasprit Bumrah
According to a Times of India report, Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play at the start of IPL 2025. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Reports suggest that Bumrah might miss the first or even the second week of the tournament, as he is not yet fully fit for bowling. He is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp in April.
A BCCI source stated, “Bumrah’s medical reports are fine. He has resumed bowling at the Center of Excellence. However, it is unlikely that he will be able to bowl at the start of the IPL. As of now, the first week of April seems the most realistic timeline for his return. The medical team is gradually increasing his workload, and he will only be cleared once he can bowl at full speed without any issues for a few days.”
How Many Matches Will Bumrah Miss?
If Bumrah returns in the first week of April, he might miss around 3 to 4 matches for Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Mayank Yadav is also expected to miss the start of the season. Reports suggest that Mayank could join the IPL in April as well.
