‘Absolutely no idea how Bangalore let him go’: Kevin Pietersen questions RCB for releasing this player

Kevin Pietersen expressed disbelief as to why RCB had let go of the player.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is doing pretty good in IPL 2023. However, one of the areas the team has to improve is the bowling department. With bowlers leaking runs, RCB management will surely be thinking about the leg-spinner who used to bowl economically and take wickets when other bowlers used to go for runs at bowlers’ graveyard, M Chinnaswamy Stadium – Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2021 before being released ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Wanindu Hasaranga, who replaced Chahal in the team after that, has performed well for RCB over the past two years but Chahal was on a different level altogether.

Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen praised Chahal and expressed disbelief as to why RCB had let go of Chahal.

“One of the greatest gifts in the history of the IPL is Chahal to Rajasthan Royals. Absolutely no idea how Bangalore let him go. Always took the wickets, he was the bloke who kept them in the game. Unbelievable that this bloke is now wearing pink. With the ball, he was the most valuable asset for RCB,” Petersen said during commentary.

In his 8-year stitnt with RCB, Chahal took 139 wickets in 114 matches and was one of skipper Virat Kohli’s go-to bowler as he would not only bowl economically but even take wickets when other bowlers used to go for runs at bowlers’ graveyard, M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Now in his second year with the Rajasthan Royals, Chahal has already taken 38 wickets in 23 matches in addition to the Purple Cap last year.
