Adelaide Strikers won by 51 runs against Sydney Sixers in the 2nd BBL Match of this season, thanks to an amazing half-century by Matt Short, a magnificent spell by Rashid Khan, and an excellent career-best haul by fiery quick Henry Thornton.
At the Adelaide Oval, Peter Siddle, the Adelaide Strikers skipper, won the toss and elected to bat first.

Adelaide Strikers batted first and put up a massive total of 184 runs on the board. They got off to a rough start, losing Weatherald early in the first over. However, Matthew Short teamed up with Chris Lynn and together they built up a strong partnership. Short played masterful innings of 84 off 53 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. Lynn’s 41 came off 34 balls, while fellow newcomer Adam Hose also impressed by giving some finishing touches to the innings.

The Sydney Sixers struggled in their chase, with Thornton striking twice in his first over and putting a huge dent in the run chase. Philippe and Henriques struggled with their timing and ate up a lot of balls. Most of the Sixers’ batters were not able to find the sweet spot of the bat and Jordan Silk was the top scorer with 36. Rashid and Thornton shared the 7 wickets to fall but were well supported by the rest of the bowlers. Strikers completely outclassed Sixers and they limped to 7-133 in reply.
