All you need to know about the injury to Jasprit Bumrah; A timeline of his injuries

Jasprit Bumrah didn't feature in a single game for India since September 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September last year. His repetitive back problems kept him away from almost all the major tournaments last year. He first missed Asia Cup 2022 and then T20 World Cup 2022.

Now, as per reports, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to stay out of Cricket for an additional period of 4-5 months, missing both IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

Here’s is everything you need to know about Jasprit Bumrah’s injuries:

The first time Bumrah was out of action due to his back was in September 2019. Scans revealed a lower-back stress fracture, and he was out of action for four months. However, Bumrah did not undergo surgery but was flown to the UK for treatment.

In July 2022, Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the 3rd Test against England after complaining about back spasms. In August 2022, owing to his back problem, Bumrah was not selected in India’s T20I squad for the Asia Cup.

In September 2022, Bumrah made a little appearance in the 2nd and 3rd T20I against Australia, ending with 1-23 and 0-50, bowling a total of six overs across the two T20Is.

Bumrah was then included in India’s squad for T20 World 2022, but was later ruled out due to a stress fracture, with Mohammed Shami replacing him in the squad.

Bumrah, since then, has not been featured in a single game for India. Earlier it was expected that Bumrah would return in the IPL which gave fans a bit of hope of an appearance in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. However, now it seems that he will miss both the events as he require some more time to be 100% fit.
