The premium all-rounder of Mumbai Indians who also serves as the vice-captain, Kieron Pollard has retired from IPL. He will be acting as the batting consultant for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming edition of IPL. In his absence Mumbai Indians need a trusted deputy who can guide the team.

Recently, it was revealed that Jasprit Bumrah may also not feature in Indian Premier League. Also, Jofra Archer can leave before the completion of IPL to prepare for Ashes. All of this has created a headache for Mumbai Indians. There is also the workload issue that BCCI has raised. Many key players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are probably not going to play each and every match for their franchise.

Rohit Sharma is the captain of Mumbai Indians and he surely needs a helping hand who can take over when he is sidelined due to the workload management. Currently, the biggest prospect for Mumbai Indians’s vice captain is Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian cricket team has already tried SKY as vice captain in T20 cricket and he can do the same job for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.
