All you need to know about the IPL 2022 sensation Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma is probably the find of the season along with Ayush Badoni in Tata IPL 2022. The left-hander plucked out of obscurity by Mumbai Indians has played some fine innings in the middle-order for his franchise.

His unfeared and counterattacking approach has sent a few shockwaves around the cricket fraternity. Many have already called him the successor for Yuvraj Singh or Suresh Raina in the Indian international team.

How Tilak Varma found his way to Mumbai Indians:

Tilak Varma represented Hyderbad in Indian domestic cricket and made his debut in the 2018-19 Ranji trophy. He made his T20 debut for Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy of 2018-19. Lastly, he was given the opportunity to wear Hyderabd’s jersey in List A cricket in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Tilak Varma can also bowl a bit of off-spin, which he showcased in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Hyderabad. He has ordinary stats in domestic cricket, but Mumbai Indians are experts in finding a diamond in the rough. Their scouting team was very excited about bringing Tilak to the Mumbai Indians camp. In IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Mumbai Indians bought him for a massive ₹1.7 Crores.

Ongoing dream-run in IPL 2022:

Tilak Varma is repaying Mumbai’s faith in his abilities with 121 runs in 3 matches at an average of 60.50 and an impressive strike rate of 161.33. He played an exceptional inning of 61 off 33 deliveries against Rajasthan Royals, including five gigantic sixes and three innovative fours.

What Tilak Varma aspires to accomplish:

Tilak Varma aspires to buy a house for his family from the money he is earning through IPL. He wants to be the successor for his ideal Suresh Raina in the Indian cricket team. He says that his current goal is to win matches for Mumbai Indians and prove his capabilities against the world-class bowlers in IPL 2022.
