McCullum attributed the close defeat to a lack of luck and expressed confidence that England would maintain their strategy in the second Test. He believed that their style of play was validated despite the outcome of the first Test. McCullum stated that with a bit of luck, the result could have been different.

The coach emphasized that England would continue to put pressure on opposition teams and approach the game with confidence. Despite the loss, the team is proud of their efforts and aims to seize opportunities to dominate their opponents.

“We always want to try to take the game forward. We want to try to seize opportunities where we think we can put opposition teams under pressure,” McCullum added, highlighting England’s aggressive mindset going into the Lord’s Test.
