Ashwin Picks Two ODI World Cup Stars as the IPL 2024 Auction Top Attraction; Ignores Travis Head

Ashwin does not consider Travis Head as the top pick for the upcoming IPL Auction

R Ashwin has highlighted Rachin Ravindra and Gerald Coetzee as his top picks for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction. Ravindra, the standout performer in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, showcased exceptional batting skills, amassing 578 runs, including three centuries, and contributing with the ball. Coetzee, a formidable force for South Africa, emerged as the leading wicket-taker among fast bowlers in the tournament, with a record-setting 20 wickets.

Ashwin, sharing his insights on Instagram, emphasized Ravindra’s suitability for teams in need of a left-arm spinner who can bat high up the order. Highlighting Ravindra’s T20 experience and promising batting prowess, Ashwin sees him as a valuable asset.

Shifting focus to Coetzee, Ashwin praised the South African tearaway fast bowler, anticipating him to be a sought-after commodity in the IPL auctions. With impressive speed, aggressive bouncers, and powerful batting capabilities, Coetzee is expected to attract significant attention and potentially secure a substantial deal in the upcoming mini-auction. In Ashwin’s perspective, both Ravindra and Coetzee are players to watch out for, especially for IPL scouts.

Notably, Ashwin did not pick Travis Head, the Australian batter who single handedly played India out of the ODI World Cup 2023 Final. Ashwin also showed no interest in Mitchell Starc who is rumoured to be back in the IPL Auction after a long amount of time.
