Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has shared his excitement after being selected to represent India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel recently revealed the 17-member squad for the continental championship, including Krishna.
Among the selected players, Prasidh Krishna stands as one of the five specialist pacers in the squad, alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur. Krishna’s journey to the Asia Cup appeared unlikely due to a lumbar back stress that kept him off the field for nearly a year.
After being sidelined since August of the previous year, the right-arm pacer made a triumphant return to international cricket this month during the ongoing series against Ireland. In the first two T20Is of the series, he displayed an impressive performance, securing two wickets in each match. His efforts accumulated a total of 4 wickets, earning him the distinction of being the joint-highest wicket-taker in the series.

Expressing his satisfaction at being chosen for the Asia Cup squad, Prasidh Krishna provided insight into his mindset and preparation approach. “The team was following the moon landing on the bus. We saw it here. Pretty happy being picked for the Asia Cup. The process is the same, continuing the process is important. I still want to do better, I’ve been running in well, but there’s more I can do. Trying to get into the groove. It’s about being consistent. If I can be consistent in execution, that’s where I want to be.”
Regarded as one of India’s promising bowlers, Prasidh Krishna is anticipated to receive playing time during the Asia Cup. A strong performance in the tournament could potentially pave the way for his involvement in the World Cup as well. With the Asia Cup commencing on August 30 and India’s first match scheduled against Pakistan on September 2, anticipation continues to grow among cricket enthusiasts.
