Asia Cup 2023 Schedule- India vs Pakistan in Kandy on September 2, Final in Colombo on Sep 17

Asia Cup Schedule Revealed

After several months of disagreements between the cricket boards of India and Pakistan, the official schedule for the Asia Cup was eventually revealed on Wednesday. Pakistan managed to retain the hosting rights for the tournament, but out of the 13 matches in this biennial competition, they will only host four. The participating teams in this One-Day International (ODI) competition include Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, apart from Pakistan.

The Asia Cup is set to commence on August 30, starting with Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan. Lahore will host three other matches, including a possible Pakistan Super 4 fixture on September 6. The majority of the tournament will be held in Sri Lanka, with three matches in Kandy and six in Colombo, concluding with the final on September 17.

The highly anticipated India-Pakistan round-robin clash is scheduled for September 2 in Kandy, and a potential rematch in the Super 4 stage is expected on September 10 in Colombo. The success of the tournament largely depends on this marquee match between the arch-rivals, and the format is designed in a way to ensure they face each other at least twice.

Both India and Pakistan are placed in the same group along with the Associate side Nepal (who qualified for the tournament). Regardless of their standings in the group stage, Pakistan will remain A1 and India A2, fulfilling India’s request to play only at a neutral venue.
