Australia Squashes New Zealand: ICC WCWC 2022

AUSW VS NZW, ODI 11 of 31, ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup ends with a massive victory for Australia by 141 runs.

Australia rightfully regains their spot at the top of the table with a thumping third victory in a row at the tournament. Ellyse Perry and Tahlia Mcgrath each scored fifty to take Australia to 269-8 in their 50 overs.

In reply, New Zealand never posed a threat as Australian bowlers ran through the kiwi innings in 30.2 overs. New Zealand could only manage a paltry 128 runs to concede their second loss of the tournament and slip at 5th position in the points table.

AUSW VS NZW highlights:

Australian Innings:

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and invited her counterparts to bat first at Basin Reserve, Wellington.

Australia did not have a great start as their top three fell under 16 overs and the game tilted a bit in favour of the hosts.

However, Beth Mooney (30) forged a 57 run stand for the 4th wicket with Ellyse Perry (68). Together they brought Australia out of the trouble, and Tahila Mcgrath (57) along with Gardner (48) complimented them well to post a total of 269-8.

For New Zealand, Hayley Jensen picked 4 crucial wickets, and Kerr and Row accounted for two wickets each.

New Zealand’s Innings:

New Zealand never settled and kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the match. They lost 5 wickets under 35, which robbed them of their hope for beating Australia.

Amy Satterthwaite was the only one in the Kiwis’ innings to contribute something of substance. She scored 44, including 5 fours to at least cut the margin of loss by a bit.

While Darcie Brown dismissed three New Zealand batters, Wellington and Gardner accounted for two wickets each.

Player of the Match: Ellyse Perry for scoring 68 and picking up a wicket

AUSW VS NZW, brief scores:
