The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will convene a committee to select the venues for the ODI World Cup 2023. According to insiders, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been tasked with forming a committee at the BCCI’s Special General Meeting (SGM) on May 27 in Ahmedabad, the site of the India Premier League Final.

“For World Cup venues, BCCI secretary has been authorised to form a committee that will decide on the World Cup venues in India. The board authorised Jay Shah to form the committee today at special general meeting in Ahmedabad,” the source told Cricreads.

The Cricket World Cup 2023 will be the 13th edition of the quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament. The tournament will be held in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023, though the ICC previously stated that the final would be held on November 26. The competition will be held entirely in India for the first time; three previous editions were partially hosted there in 1987, 1996, and 2011.

India and Pakistan are currently arguing over who will host the ODI World Cup in 2023. The Pakistan Cricket Board, led by Najam Sethi, has threatened India that they will not travel to the ODI World Cup 2023 if India fails to arrive for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place prior to the World Cup. The media also reported that Pakistan may want to play their matches outside of India, implying that the event will no longer be exclusive to the BCCI.
