Born on October 24, 1991, Pramod Bhanuka Bandara Rajapaksa, commonly known as Bhanuka Rajapaksa, is a renowned Sri Lankan cricketer specializing in limited-overs internationals for the national team. Hailing from Colombo, Rajapaksa is a left-handed batsman with a knack for right-arm medium bowling. Despite showcasing his talent in domestic cricket, Rajapaksa’s international debut came relatively late during the T20I series against Pakistan in 2019, marking a decade since his first-class debut.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa Domestic and T20 Career

In domestic cricket, Bhanuka Rajapaksa initially represented the Sinhalese Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic competitions. He also showcased his talent abroad by playing for Barisal Blazers in Bangladesh’s NCL T20 Bangladesh.

His journey continued as he was named in various squads for prestigious tournaments. In April 2018, Rajapaksa earned a spot in Galle’s squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament, followed by inclusion in Kandy’s squad for the 2018 SLC T20 League in August of the same year.

In March 2019, he was part of Dambulla’s squad for the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. During the 2019 Premier season, Rajapaksa left a lasting impression by scoring a remarkable 268 runs in 173 balls against Ports Authorities for BRC at Moors Grounds, showcasing his power-hitting ability with 19 sixes and 22 fours.

His talent was further highlighted during Sri Lanka A’s tour of India in 2019, where he scored a fine century, smashing 110 runs off 112 balls against India A, adorned with 17 fours and 3 sixes at KSCA grounds, Hubli.

Rajapaksa’s career continued to soar as he was drafted by the Galle Gladiators for the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League in October 2020. Subsequently, he was named in the SLC Greys team for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League tournament in August 2021.

In November 2021, he once again caught the eye of selectors as he was selected to represent the Galle Gladiators in the 2021 Lanka Premier League.

His talents were recognized on the international stage as well, as he was bought by the Punjab Kings in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament in February 2022. Later, in July 2022, he joined the Dambulla Giants for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.

In February 2023, Rajapaksa made his debut in the Pakistan Super League with Peshawar Zalmi, marking another milestone in his cricketing career.
