Reports suggest that the opening ceremony of the 2023 World Cup is on the verge of being cancelled. Originally scheduled to be a star-studded event at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 4, just a day before the tournament’s inaugural match at the same venue, the ceremony seems to have hit a roadblock.
Previously, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had enlisted the participation of Bollywood luminaries such as Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreyas Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle for an extravagant evening in Ahmedabad. This star-studded ceremony was poised to dazzle fans with fireworks and a laser show, marking the commencement of the 2023 World Cup in India.
The opening ceremony for World Cup 2023 is tentatively called off, although it’s worth noting that no official announcement has been made concerning this decision. The Captains’ Day event at the Narendra Modi Stadium is still scheduled to proceed as planned, with all ten captains, including India’s captain Rohit Sharma, set to attend the occasion in Ahmedabad.
