    Pace sensation Umran Malik clocked 155 kmph, the fastest ball ever by an Indian Pacer in international cricket. Umran bowled a fiery 155 Kph delivery in the first T20I against Sri Lanka on 3rd January 2023 to dismiss the Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka. In an attempt to hit over covers, Dasun found Yuzvendra Chahal on the way and was easily caught on the circle. He broke the record of 154.5 kmph held by India’s legendary pacer Javagal Srinath.

    Current chief Selector Shahid Afridi criticized Pakistani batters for their strike rate. He recently stated on Pakistan news channel that batters who do not have a strike rate of 130-135 or higher will not be selected for the T20I team. He indirectly targeted Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam for their T20 strike rate.

    Rizwan and Babar both have a strike rate of less than 130 in T20I. Afridi stated that this is the criteria he is establishing for domestic batters who want to play for Pakistan in T20Is. This follows criticism of Pakistan’s batters strike rate in the shortest format, which was evident during the T20 World Cup. Pakistan reached the final of T20 World Cup 2022 but their approach towards cricket was highly questionable.

    “Batters will no longer be selected in T20s for Pakistan who have a strike rate below 130-135 in domestic cricket,” Shahid Afridi, chief selector said during his conversation with Samaa TV

    Cricket fans on Twitter made fun of this statement by Afridi. If this rule is strictly applied then both Babar Azam and Rizwan will not be selected for T20 in the future. Babar Azam’s strike rate in PSL is 121 whereas Mohammad Rizwan’s strike rate if 123 which is way too low.

    Some die-hard cricket fans even accused Aleem Dar of match-fixing and trolled him severely on Twitter. Fans should understand that umpire was just doing his job and after all he was looking for player’s safety.

    Pakistan cricket board needs to prepare better pitches, use better balls, and play an aggressive brand of cricket. Test cricket can no longer afford draws. The 2nd Test Match between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place in Karachi from 2nd January 2023.

Parag played with a strike rate close to 300 in the match and looked utterly dangerous while he lasted on the crease.

    Most of Riyan Parag’s runs came from huge sixes and glorious fours in this inning. He was relentless in his destructive knock of 78 off 28. Twitter users are claiming that Riyan Parag has shown his own theory in cricket. They are naming his brand of cricket the Paragball Theory. A name which is a bit inspired by the Bazball Theory, which England applies in Test cricket.

    Riyan Parag came on to the crease when Assam had lost two wickets on the score of just 29 runs in the second inning of the match. He was unfazed by the pressure and demonstrated a class of shots which showed his mettle as a batter. Parag’s 78 off 28 with a strike rate of 275 has helped Assam to be on the top of the game.

    Assam was getting behind in the game as they were dismissed for just 205 runs in the first inning, and Hyderbad had managed to post 209 runs on the board. However, Riyan Parag’s fiery knock of 78 off 28 has put Assam on the top in the match. He has also taken 4 wickets in the match.

    Shaw had last played for India in a T20I against Sri Lanka in July 2021; the sensational opener from Delhi Capitals has since produced consistent outings in domestic cricket for Mumbai. In the 2022 Indian Premier League, Shaw displayed his explosive batting, scoring 283 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 152.97 for the Delhi Capitals.

    Prithvi Shaw has been consistently ignored by BCCI. He posted this sad Instagram story after not getting picked for upcoming Sri Lanka series. The story was an Instagram reel that had a shayari (poetry) from Uzair Hijazi; “Kisi ne muft me paa liya vo shakhs, jo mujhe har keemat pe chahiye tha (Rough translation: The one I needed the most, someone got them for free).

    BCCI should look closely at Prithvi Shaw’s performances in Ranji Trophy. He could be a perfect replacement in all formats for out-of-form player KL Rahul.
