The highly anticipated Super 4s encounter between India and Pakistan in the 2023 Asia Cup is slated for September 10, 2023, at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
However, fans might face another disappointment as the weather forecast for Colombo suggests the possibility of rain disrupting this weekend’s eagerly awaited clash between the arch-rivals. Fortunately, after two days of rain, the skies cleared up in Colombo on Friday, allowing the teams to practice.
The Colombo weather forecast indicates a 70% chance of rain on Sunday morning. While temperatures are expected to drop slightly during the day, the threat of rain remains particularly high at the beginning of the match.
As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to decrease further, and clear skies are unlikely. If heavy and continuous rain falls, despite the good drainage system at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, the IND vs PAK Super 4 match could face disruptions.
September typically sees a 61% chance of rain in Colombo, with precipitation levels averaging 0.53 inches (13.4 mm) when it does rain. Daily high temperatures are expected to hover around 86°F, rarely falling below 84°F or exceeding 89°F. Specifically, on September 10, the temperature is expected to be around 88°F.

In light of these weather conditions and past matches affected by rain, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has wisely introduced a reserve day for the India vs. Pakistan match. If adverse weather interrupts play during the game, it will resume on September 11, 2023, from where it left off. Ticket holders are advised to keep their tickets, as they will remain valid for the reserve day.
This decision takes into account previous weather-related disruptions, such as the group-stage match between India and Pakistan earlier in the month, which was abandoned due to heavy rain without a single ball bowled in the second innings.
Despite the weather challenges, cricket fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating this showdown between the arch-rivals. The Asia Cup 2023 ODI tournament is currently in its second phase, the Super 4s stage, featuring India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. In this stage, each team will face the others once, with the top two teams advancing to the final scheduled for September 17, 2023, in Colombo.
