Dan Lawrence Domestic Career
Dan Lawrence’s cricket journey began at Chingford Cricket Club, where his father serves as the groundsman. During his youth cricket days, he experimented with various batting techniques, honing his skills. Lawrence stepped into the first-class arena for Essex against Kent in April 2015. Notably, in only his second appearance, at the age of 17 years and 290 days, he smashed a century against Surrey, earning the distinction of being the third youngest batsman to achieve this feat in the County Championship. His batting prowess played a pivotal role in Essex’s promotion to the County Championship First Division and their subsequent title win in 2017. Recognized for his exceptional talent, Lawrence was honored as the Cricket Writers’ Club Young Cricketer of the Year in 2017 and earned his debut for England Lions.
Apart from his batting skills, Lawrence also showcases his off-spin bowling, characterized by an unconventional action. In April 2022, he was acquired by the London Spirit for The Hundred’s 2022 season and retained for the following year. Subsequently, in June 2023, Lawrence embarked on a new chapter, signing a three-year deal with Surrey ahead of the 2024 season.
In the international T20 arena, Lawrence has made significant strides. In November 2020, he ventured into the Big Bash League (BBL) scene, joining the Brisbane Heat as an international recruit.
