The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made significant additions to their squad for the upcoming IPL 2024 season, securing the services of New Zealand star Daryl Mitchell, batting sensation Rachin Ravindra, and Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur in the ongoing IPL auction. The franchise, known for its strategic picks, aimed to reinforce its lineup with experienced and talented players.
Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand middle-order batter, created a bidding frenzy in the IPL auction 2024. Starting at a base price of INR 1 crore, Mitchell garnered interest from Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. However, Chennai Super Kings, determined to secure the seasoned Kiwi, entered the race at INR 12.00 crores. Despite stiff competition, CSK emerged victorious, signing Mitchell for INR 14 crores. This marked Mitchell as the third player in the auction to touch the 10 crore mark, joining Pat Cummins and Harshal Patel.
Mitchell, known for his consistency, recently showcased his prowess in the World Cup, finishing as the fifth-highest run-scorer with 552 runs in 10 games. While he is yet to make a mark in the IPL, his international T20 experience and impressive performances make him a valuable asset.
