Dean Elgar Career
In 2006, Dean Elgar led the Under-19 Cricket World Cup team in Sri Lanka. Currently, he contributes to both the Northerns and Titans cricket teams in major South African competitions, including the 2015 Africa T20 Cup with Northerns. A noteworthy achievement came on 23 March 2018, when he became the second batsman, following Desmond Haynes, to carry his bat through an innings three times in Test cricket history.
In March 2021, Cricket South Africa announced Elgar as South Africa’s Test captain, succeeding Quinton de Kock in this leadership role.
In early 2012, Dean Elgar was initially selected for the Sri Lankan ODI series but withdrew due to injury. His ODI debut against England, though in a rain-abandoned match, showcased success in his second game, scoring 15 in his inaugural innings and taking a wicket with his left-arm spin against Craig Kieswetter.
