IPL comes at the top when we think about the best T20 Leagues around the world. The tournament which started in 2008, features superstars from the entire globe. The inclusion of Bollywood celebrities in this league makes this league even more interesting and famous.

But do you know IPL, which is enjoyed by millions of people as a T20 tournament, was about to be a 50-over tournament.

    YES, YOU READ IT RIGHT!

Back in 1995, the planner of IPL, Lalit Modi proposed an idea of a 50-over format competition, but the officials of BCCI rejected it.

One of the major reasons why this idea was rejected was because of the increase in the popularity of the T20 format in India after Team India defeated Pakistan in the final of T20 World Cup 2007 to win the maiden title.

Now just think, what would happen if IPL was a 50 over format. There would be less matches and less entertainment compared to the T20 format.
