In the second match of ILT20 2024 on Saturday (January 20) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai Capitals will face MI Emirates in their inaugural game.
Last season, Capitals secured four victories out of 10 matches, finishing in fourth place. In the eliminator match against MI Emirates, Capitals set a target of 152 runs, scoring 151 for the loss of five wickets. However, MI Emirates successfully chased down the total in 16.4 overs with eight wickets in hand. The team, now led by David Warner, has seen a change in captaincy with Rovman Powell being replaced.
MI Emirates, having won five out of 10 matches last season and securing the third position at the league stage, faced the Gulf Giants in the second qualifier. Despite scoring 167 runs for the loss of five wickets, they lost the match to the Giants, who won in 18.1 overs with four wickets in hand. Nicholas Pooran has taken over the captaincy from Kieron Pollard for the upcoming season.
