Experienced batter Joe Root makes a return to England’s ODI squad for the upcoming India tour and the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy. Root last featured in ODIs during England’s disappointing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign, where the defending champions were eliminated in the group stage after winning just three out of nine matches.

The 33-year-old Root has played 171 ODIs, amassing 6522 runs at an impressive average of 47.60, including 16 centuries and 39 half-centuries.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the squads as he continues to recover from a left hamstring injury sustained during England’s third Test against New Zealand earlier this month.
