Kane Williamson will be absent for New Zealand’s opening World Cup match against England on October 5 due to his ongoing injury recovery. He will only participate as a batsman in the first warm-up game, according to New Zealand Cricket.

Head coach Gary Stead stated, “From the beginning, we’ve taken a long-term approach to Kane’s comeback. His rehabilitation is progressing well, and we’re focused on ensuring he can handle the demands of international cricket. We’ll continue to assess his condition day by day and won’t rush his return.”
