Fakhar Zaman joined the Lahore Qalandars squad for the 2017 Pakistan Super League, receiving mentorship from Brendon McCullum, a seasoned New Zealand player. Despite his initial seasons being marred by team setbacks, with Lahore finishing at the bottom of the league table each time, Zaman showcased consistent individual performances, amassing 739 runs, including a pivotal innings of 94 runs in 2018.

His fortunes changed in the 2020 PSL season, where he emerged as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer. Zaman’s contributions were instrumental in guiding Lahore Qalandars to the finals, although they fell short against the Karachi Kings.

Ahead of the 2022 PSL season, Zaman was initially released by Qalandars but was subsequently picked up again in the drafts. His leadership proved pivotal as he guided Lahore Qalandars to their maiden PSL title in 2022. Zaman not only topped the run-scoring charts but also set records by surpassing Babar Azam’s run tally and registering the most 50 plus scores in a single season. He also marked his first PSL century against the Karachi Kings during the same season.

In the subsequent season, Zaman continued his prolific form by scoring his second PSL century against Islamabad United on March 9, 2023. Additionally, he became only the second batsman to surpass the 2000-run mark in PSL history. Fakhar Zaman Domestic & Franchise Career

Fakhar Zaman’s cricket journey began in Karachi, where he continued playing occasionally in inter-departmental matches, including representing the Pakistan Navy cricket team. It was his navy coach, Azam Khan, who recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue professional cricket. Making a tough decision in 2013, Zaman left his naval career to chase his cricketing dream. He began appearing for various regional outfits such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abbottabad Falcons, Balochistan, and several Karachi teams.

His breakthrough came in 2016 when he emerged as the second-highest run-scorer in the Pakistan Cup. Zaman’s impressive performances caught the eye of selectors during the 2016–17 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, further bolstering his reputation.

In August 2017, he was named in Durban Qalandars’ squad for the inaugural season of the T20 Global League. However, the tournament was initially postponed until November 2018 by Cricket South Africa and was later canceled.

Zaman’s international appeal was evident when he was selected to represent the Rotterdam Rhinos in the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament in July 2019. However, the tournament faced cancellation the following month.

Continuing to showcase his skills, Zaman was named in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s squad for the 2020–21 Pakistan Cup in January 2021, highlighting his consistent presence in domestic cricket.
