1992 World Cup-winning captain and former Pakistan Prime Minister taken into custody outside the Islamabad High Court amidst claims of abduction and violence.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister and legendary cricketer, Imran Khan, was arrested outside the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, May 9, on the grounds of the Al-Qadir Trust dispute. The arrest came as Khan arrived for the hearing of his bail renewal. The Parliamentary rangers arrested him outside the court and put him in the prison van after grabbing him by the collar. Imran Khan’s party’s top lawyer confirmed the news and claimed that the arrest was an abduction. The lawyer also alleged that the rangers got physical with him, and in the video, he can be seen bleeding after the violence.

Imran Khan is one of the most revered cricketing personalities globally, and he made his debut at the age of 16. He was one of the best all-rounders of his time and scored 7516 runs and took 544 wickets in 263 games. Khan led Pakistan to their maiden and only fifty-over World Cup in 1992.

Khan has remained a prominent political figure in Pakistan and had launched a recent attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where he had called them an arrogant cricket superpower. In his statement, Khan expressed his surprise and disappointment at the BCCI’s refusal to allow Pakistan cricketers to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which he believed reeked of arrogance.
