Gautam Gambhir Unlikely to Return to Kolkata Knight Riders, Stays with Lucknow Super Giants – Reports

Reports suggest that Gautam Gambhir will continue his association with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) rather than rejoining the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a coaching or supporting role for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

Speculations about Gautam Gambhir rejoining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming IPL 2024 season might not come to fruition, as recent reports suggest. Despite growing rumors that the former Indian Premier League (IPL) captain would join KKR in a coaching or supporting role, it seems Gambhir will remain with his current team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). As a mentor, Gambhir has been instrumental in LSG’s success, leading them to two playoff appearances.

While Gambhir has a strong affinity for KKR, having captained the team to two IPL titles, an inside source claims that he is not leaving LSG at this time. With the IPL 2024 season still seven months away, there is ample time for Gambhir and LSG to make a decision that best serves the team’s interests.

While there has been no official announcement regarding Gambhir’s departure from LSG, the franchise recently revealed that Justin Langer would be the coach for the 2024 season. Langer, who previously coached the Australian national team and Perth Scorchers, brings a wealth of experience and success to the role. Under Langer’s guidance, Australia won the Ashes in 2018-19 and the T20 World Cup in 2021.
