Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 title while Gautam Gambhir was the mentor, after which the BCCI was preparing to make him the new head coach. On the behest of BCCI, Gautam Gambhir also gave an interview for the role of head coach last month and now just waiting for the announcement. Now Team India is going to get a new coach and it is almost certain that former veteran opener Gautam Gambhir will be seen in this role. It is expected that Gautam Gambhir’s name may be announced on July 9.

Gautam Gambhir will become the new coach of Indian Team; BCCI to make an official announcement in just 24 hours!

Team India has ended a big wait by winning the T20 World Cup. The team led by Rohit Sharma is currently on a break after becoming the world champion. The young team under the captaincy of Shubman Gill is on a tour of Zimbabwe. Now that the wait for the trophy is over, the fans are impatient for the second big news. This wait is for the announcement of the name of the new coach of Team India. With Team India becoming the T20 World Champion, head coach Rahul Dravid ended his journey with the team.

Rahul Dravid had announced before the World Cup that he would not be the coach of Team India again after this tournament. At the same time, BCCI had started looking for a new coach even before that. During this time, Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 title with Gambhir as the mentor, after which BCCI started preparing to make him the coach of Team India. Gambhir had also given an interview for this post last month and it is believed that he gave this interview on the condition that his appointment is confirmed.

The official announcement to be made soon

Now all this has been done but the new coach has not been announced yet. This wait will be ended when BCCI will announce name of Gautam Gambhir. This is being speculated after two important developments a day earlier. Actually, on Sunday, July 7, Gambhir was seen at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. It has been claimed that Gambhir recorded his last message for Kolkata Knight Riders fans here. After this, in the evening, Gambhir reached Mumbai with his wife, so it is expected that Gambhir’s name can be announced within the next 24 hours.

Team India has to play big tournaments

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had announced a few days ago that the new coach will take charge of the team from the Sri Lanka tour. In such a situation, the board would also like to give them a chance to prepare by announcing it as soon as possible. The tenure of the new coach of Team India will be 3.5 years i.e. he will be the coach of Team India till 31 December 2027. During this period, the Indian team has to play important tournaments like Champions Trophy, 2 World Test Championships, T20 World Cup 2026 and World Cup 2027.
