I don’t think it’s arrogance to say we’re a very good team- Ben Stokes warns World Cup 2023 teams

England is the defending champions going into the World Cup 2023

Speaking to The Guardian, Stokes conveyed his absolute faith in Jos Buttler’s leadership and the collective prowess of the England cricket team to secure their World Cup title. He underlined that England possesses a wealth of extraordinary talent, battle-hardened through numerous high-stakes contests. Stokes highlighted the unparalleled intensity of representing one’s nation in pivotal matches witnessed by billions, a distinguishing factor that sets international cricket apart from T20 leagues built around franchises.

“I don’t think it’s arrogance to say we’re a very good team. We’re in the mix. And what we now have in our favour, I think, is experience of huge games – an edge against sides who don’t play as many,” Ben Stokes said.

” I know franchise T20 cricket means a lot more players have been exposed to those situations; it’s great for that. But it doesn’t come close to wearing your country’s shirt, billions watching, knowing if you lose, you’re out,” the World Cup 2019 winner added.

The England cricket team currently reigns supreme in the world of white-ball cricket. They proudly bear the title of world champions in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), a clear testament to their exceptional abilities and unwavering performance in limited-overs formats. This presents them with a golden opportunity to stand alongside cricketing giants like the West Indies and Australia as one of the select few teams to successfully retain their 50-over championship title.
