ICC World Cup 2023: BCCI Provides Updates on Return Dates of Bumrah, Iyer, Rahul and Pant

The BCCI medical team shares positive progress reports on the injured Indian players

The BCCI medical team has issued official updates on the fitness progress of five Indian players who are currently recovering from injuries. Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are the players in question, all working hard to make a successful comeback into the team.

ICC World Cup 2023: BCCI Provides Updates on Return Dates of Bumrah, Iyer, Rahul and Pant

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the Indian cricket team since September 2022, following his withdrawal from the T20I series against South Africa after two games against Australia. He missed the subsequent Asia Cup, T20 World Cup, and the WTC final against Australia due to a back injury. Bumrah attempted a return during the series against Sri Lanka earlier this year but was deemed unfit by the BCCI. After undergoing back surgery, he has been undergoing rigorous fitness training at the NCA. His availability for the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup is being closely monitored by the team management.

The BCCI medical team provided updates on Bumrah and Krishna, stating that both of them are in the final stages of their rehabilitation and are bowling at full intensity in the nets. The duo will participate in some practice games organized by the NCA, and a final decision on their selection will be made after assessing their performance in these matches.

Updates on Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul’s fitness were also provided. While Iyer is recovering from a calf injury and Rahul from a hamstring injury, both players are making steady progress and have resumed batting in the nets. They are currently undergoing strength and fitness drills, and the BCCI medical team is satisfied with their progress. Their readiness for the ODI World Cup is expected.
