“I’m ageing..,” Ashwin Puts Injury Concern to Rest ahead of the WTC 2023 Final

Ashwin clears the air surrounding his injury

India Cricket Team and fans can breathe a sigh of relief as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s back is fine ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

The off-spinner was ruled out of RR’s last game against PBKS in Dharmshala, which provided a major scare ahead of the summit clash against Australia.

However, Ashwin confirmed on his YouTube channel that the back spasm was caused by a soft bed in the Dharmshala hotel and that nothing else was to be concerned about.

“I always sleep on the floor. But in Dharamshala (I slept) on the soft beds. Suddenly back spasm came, and my back got stiff. I came home. Back is fine,” Ashwin told on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin also added that his ageing body and hectic travel routines during IPL played a part in having some back issues. “In IPL we keep traveling to different places. I am aging also …”

Ashwin’s fitness is a huge boost for India. The all-rounder is expected to be crucial at the WTC final, which will be held at the Oval. The pitch here generally favors spinners, and India would like to take advantage of that. Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid and the rest of the support staff will depart on May 23 for England.
