The cricket world was buzzing as the first Test of the India-Australia series got underway in Nagpur, with a lot of anticipation for the debut of two Indian players – Suryakumar Yadav and KS Bharat. As Australia struggled to put runs on the board, the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin wreaked havoc and restricted the visitors to just 177 in the first innings.
While the fans had their doubts about the exclusion of Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav, they were thrilled to see Suryakumar Yadav take the field for his red-ball debut. SKY, who made his T20I debut at 30 years old in 2021, followed by his ODI debut later that year, had to wait a while longer to get his Test cap.
But his wait was worth it, as he not only made his Test debut, but also made history. Suryakumar Yadav became the first Indian player to make his debut in all three international formats after turning 30. He made his T20I debut at 30 years & 6 months, his ODI debut at 30 years, 10 months & 4 days and now his Test debut at 32 years, 4 months & 26 days.
With his impressive First-Class record of 5549 runs in 79 matches, fans are eager to see what he can do on the international stage. India is currently in the driving seat, and with SKY in form, the Aussies have a tough task ahead.
He is now batting at the crease with captain Rohit Sharma and has got off the mark with a boundary to start his Test career. SKY made a statement by starting off with a boundary, signaling his arrival in the Test arena.
