IND vs AUS 1st Test: Who Should Be The Wicketkeeper – Bharat, Rahul, or Kishan?

Team India will be facing Australia in a 4 match Test series with the first match to be played from 9 February in Nagpur.

With less than a week left for the series to begin, Team India will try to tick all the boxes as early as possible. One of the choices that Team India has to make is – ‘Who will be doing the glove duty in absence of Rishabh Pant in the 1st Test?’

India has three wicketkeeping options – KS Bharat, KL Rahul, and Ishan Kishan.

1. KS Bharat

KS Bharat is an excellent wicket-keeper, which had already been known in domestic cricket. KS Bharat was the wicketkeeper in the India A team that faced Bangladesh A in the shadow series of India tour of Bangladesh. He scored 77 runs in the match which India A won by an innings. Now in absence of Pant, KS Bharat will most likely be the primary wicketkeeping option.

2. KL Rahul

Team India is considering KL Rahul as their primary wicketkeeper for Cricket World Cup 2023. Moreover, he is the vice-captain for the first two Tests against Australia. So he will surely be given a place in the playing 11 and can even do wicketkeeping for his team.

3. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan is an excellent wicketkeeper. However, he is yet to make his Test debut in that role. While its unlikely that he will be given a place in the playing 11 for the 1st Test match, he is likely to be one of India’s wicketkeeping options for the entire series.
