IND vs AUS 2nd Test Live Updates: India struggles as Nathan Lyon shines with 4 wickets on first session of the Day 2

Australia's star spinner Nathan Lyon proved too much for India as he took 4 wickets, including the dismissals of vice-captain KL Rahul and captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara on Day 2 of the second Test.

It is a day of mixed fortunes for India in the second Test against Australia as they lost four quick wickets in the first session of the day’s play. Nathan Lyon, the Australian off-spinner, proved to be the thorn in India’s batting line-up, picking up four wickets in quick succession.

Lyon

The first to fall was KL Rahul, who was dismissed for 17 runs, with Lyon getting his first wicket of the match. India’s troubles didn’t end there as Rohit Sharma, who was looking set for a big score, was dismissed for 32, leaving India reeling at 53/2.

The third was Cheteshwar Pujara’s wicket, who is playing his 100th Test match, as Lyon sent him back with a duck.Things went from bad to worse for India when Shreyas Iyer was caught by Peter Handscomb at short leg off the bowling of Nathan Lyon. With four wickets down, India was struggling to put up a respectable score. India are struggling on 77/4.

Australia would be happy with their day’s work, having put India under pressure with their disciplined bowling performance. The onus will now be on the Indian batters to come up with a strong response in the remaining sessions of Day 2.

With the likes of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Ravi Ashwin still at the crease, India would be hoping for a strong partnership to stabilize the innings and give them a fighting chance in the Test. It promises to be an exciting Day 2 of the second Test in Delhi.
