India achieved an impressive win against Australia during the second ODI, which took place at the Holkar International Stadium in Indore. The day will be etched in memory due to outstanding performances by the Indian team. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill were the architects of this massive total, each contributing a century. Their partnership of 200 runs played a crucial role in establishing a formidable target for Australia.
In pursuit of India’s imposing target of 400, the goal seemed unattainable from the outset due to an outstanding opening spell by Prasidh Krishna, who claimed 2 wickets in his very first over. He removed Matthew Short and Steve Smith with consecutive deliveries.
Prasidh Krishna, following his return from injury, has been in exceptional form and would be an ideal candidate for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Even if he isn’t selected, he should at least be included in the squad.
Unfortunately, Prasidh Krishna has been left out of the squad for the 3rd ODI against Australia, as Jasprit Bumrah has made his return to the team. It’s certainly a tough break for Prasidh Krishna not to be included in the lineup.
India has already secured an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series. The third match, scheduled in Rajkot, marks the last international encounter for both India and Australia before their clash in the World Cup on October 8.
