Rohit Sharma showed no mercy to Mitchell Starc in the Super 8 match

India defeated Australia by 24 runs in their last match of the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024. This ensured that India plays the second semi-final of the tournament against England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on 27th June 2024. On the other hand, Australia is put in a difficult situation as their qualification chances depend on the outcome of Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match. All of this was made possible by the electrifying 92 run knock of Rohit Sharma in just 41 balls.

Rohit Sharma Smashed Mitchell Starc for 29 Runs in One Over

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli started cautiously but the latter was caught out in the second over and India was looking in all sorts of trouble. At this moment, the Indian skipper decided to unleash hell on his nemesis Mitchell Starc. He imploded in the third over of the innings to smash Starc for 29 runs with the help of four huge sixes and a four. One six was adjudged to be 100 metres long.

Rohit Sharma ended up scoring 92 off 41 and smashed 8 sixes in his innings. The hitman shattered many records in his knock.

Rohit Sharma Becomes the Highest Run-Getter in T20Is and the Player with Most Sixes

Rohit Sharma has become the first batsman to hit more than 200 sixes in T20 internationals. He has a total of 203 sixes in this format. Additionally, he has also become the highest run-scorer in T20 internationals, surpassing Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. He has scored 4165 runs in 149 innings of 157 matches played so far. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma played an innings of 92 runs off 41 balls.
