IND vs ENG: Team India Suffers a Major Blow Hours Before the Second T20, Explosive Batter Injured, May Miss the Match

Less than 24 hours remain for the second T20 match between India and England, but Team India has received a piece of bad news. India’s explosive opener suffered a major injury during practice, which might rule him out of the second T20 match. The injury occurred during a catching drill when the young batter twisted his ankle.

Outstanding Knock in the First T20

Young opener Abhishek Sharma played a sensational innings in the first T20 against England, smashing a blistering half-century. He scored 79 runs off just 39 balls, hitting five fours and eight sixes. However, unfortunately, he might have to sit out of the second T20 due to his injury. During the net session, Abhishek twisted his ankle while taking part in a catching drill. The team’s physiotherapist examined him on the field and then took him to the dressing room for further assessment.

Abhishek Seen Limping

Abhishek was seen limping while returning to the pavilion and did not bat in the nets. He spent over half an hour in the dressing room with the physiotherapist. If he is unable to recover in time for the match on January 25, India has the option to include Washington Sundar or Dhruv Jurel in the playing XI.

Who Will Open the Innings?

Suryakumar Yadav’s team usually sends Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson to open the innings. If Abhishek does not recover by the evening of January 25, Tilak Varma might get the opportunity to open alongside Sanju Samson. India currently leads the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first match in Kolkata by seven wickets.
