The 29th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 will see India (IND) facing England (ENG) on Sunday (October 29) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. India currently holds the 2nd position in the standings, whereas England faces challenges in the 9th spot.
In their recent match against New Zealand, India chose to field after winning the toss. New Zealand managed to score 273 runs in 50 overs, with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell rescuing them after a slow start. Ravindra contributed 75 runs off 87 deliveries, while Mitchell scored a remarkable 130 runs off 127 deliveries. Mohammed Shami shone as the standout bowler for India, claiming five wickets for 54 runs in his 10-over spell. India successfully chased down the target of 274 runs in 48 overs, securing a four-wicket victory, although Virat Kohli missed out on a well-deserved century, dismissed after scoring 95 runs off 104 deliveries.

Notably, India is contending with the absence of the injured Hardik Pandya, who is set to miss the match against England. In Hardik’s absence, India introduced two changes in their previous match, bringing in Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami. The upcoming game will likely see a decision on whether to retain Suryakumar Yadav or introduce a spinner, possibly Ravichandran Ashwin, into the playing eleven.
