The eagerly awaited first Test match between India and West Indies is set to take place at Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica from July 12 to July 16. Team India is ready for a comprehensive tour of West Indies in July, encompassing all formats of the game. The official schedule released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) includes two Tests, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and a five-match T20 International series, commencing on July 12. The IND vs WI Test series will mark the beginning of India’s campaign in the World Test Championship Cycle (2023-25).

On Day 1 of the first Test against West Indies in Dominica, Rohit Sharma (30) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (40) showcased an unbeaten partnership, guiding India to a strong position. At Stumps, India ended the day at 80 without loss, trailing the hosts by 70 runs. Earlier in the day, the Indian bowling attack, led by Ravichandran Ashwin (5/60) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/26), put up an exceptional performance, bundling out West Indies for 150 runs.

Apart from Alick Athanaze, who scored 47 runs, the rest of the West Indies batsmen struggled to make an impact. Having won the toss, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite elected to bat first. India’s strong bowling display allowed them to gain control of the match by the end of Day 1. Here in this article, we have covered everything you need to know about the India vs West Indies 1st Test pitch report of the day 2.

The Windsor Park pitch has historically behaved like a conventional Test wicket, favoring fast bowlers and spinners on the first day and becoming easier to bat on the second and third days. On the final two days of the Test, spinners are useful because of how much the pitch has been utilized. Subsequently, spin bowlers come into play on the fourth and fifth days, finding assistance from the pitch. Overall, the pitch at Windsor Park is considered balanced, with a mix of support for both fast bowlers and spinners throughout the duration of the match.
