India defeated England in the final of the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup to create history.
Team India won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Batting first, England failed to set a big target for India as the entire team was restricted to just 68 runs in 17.1 overs.
It was expected that Team India would go on to win this match by 10 wickets. But Shefali Verma and Shweta Sanjay Sehrawat lost their wickets early at just 15 and 5 runs respectively. However, Soumya Manish Tiwari and Gongadi V Trisha didn’t let the batting order collapse. Unlucky Gongadi V Trisha lost his wicket when India was very close to the target, but thanks to her innings of 24 runs, India chased down the target very easily, winning the final by 7 wickets.
This win will surely be registered in the history books as one of the most impactful wins in the history of Indian cricket. This will motivate millions of girls in India to represent their country in cricket at the international level.
