India beat West indies by 44 runs to seal the series in Ahmedabad

India have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three match ODI series against West Indies in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma & Co. have successfully managed to conqueror the first series of 2022. Rohit has begun his full time limited overs captaincy campaign with glory.

However, India were favorites to clinch the ODI series but the way Rohit led the team and  his application of tactics were always on point. India won the second ODI with a margin of 44 runs. Although, it wasn’t a comfortable win as it seemed from the scorecard.

After losing the toss, India were invited to bat first by the visitors. Rohit took the entire nation by storm, when everyone saw Rishabh Pant opening the innings along side Rohit Sharma.

India were pushed on back foot as the West Indies took 3 quick wickets- Rohit Sharma,  Rishabh Pant and Kohli. On the score of 43/3, India were in utter need of a strong partnership. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav rescued the innings with 91 run partnership, before Rahul getting run out.

SKY went on to score his second ODI half century and some contributions from down the order took the team to a total of 237/9.

West Indies started off good but lost wickets consistently in bundles. The way Rohit rotated his bowlers was the key takeaway from the match and whenever math started to drift from India’s grip, a wicket turned the favors in their pockets. Shamarh Brooks, 44 off 64, tried his best but he was a lone survivor against the Indian bowling side.  Akeal hossein joined the party too late.

Prasidh Krishna was the man of the match for his phenomenal spell of 4 wickets in 9 overs leaking out only 12 runs at an economy rate of 1.3. Every bowler clipped at least wicket with Shardul Thakur having 2 wickets in his pocket.

West Indies were bowled out for the score of 193 in merely 46 overs and India won the ODI series with a match to spare. There were some hilarious moments in the match too, when Rohit shouted at Yuzi Chahal for not running on the field. Rohit said to Yuzi, ” Kya hua tujhe ? Bhag kyu nhi raha ? Chal bhaag Udhar.” This was a healthy light moment of the match, which every cricket fanatic loved.

India will meet West Indies for the final ODI on 11th February 2022 in Ahmedabad.
