India got off to a good start thanks to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, but things quickly fell apart as India lost their first five wickets in the second half of Day 2.
They finished the day on 151/5, 318 runs behind Australia and 118 runs short of avoiding a follow-on. Each of Australia’s five bowlers took a wicket. A 71-run fifth-wicket stand between Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja gave India hope.

After taking just three wickets on the first day, India made a strong comeback on Day 2, with Mohammed Siraj’s four-wicket haul leading the way. After Alex Carey’s quickfire 48 helped Australia cross the 450-run mark, India made sure the opposition’s tail didn’t wag too much.
