Hotel room rates and flight ticket prices in Ahmedabad have experienced a significant surge, increasing by as much as six times their usual rates.
Fans hurriedly booked accommodations as soon as the ICC announced the schedule for this major event. As of July 22, flight tickets from Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi to Ahmedabad for October 14, with a return on October 16, were nearly six times more expensive compared to tickets for other dates.
Flight tickets from various cities to Ahmedabad have experienced a significant surge in prices ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023 clash between India and Pakistan. The usually affordable return tickets from Mumbai, which are below Rs 3,000, have skyrocketed to nearly Rs 18,000.
For the Mumbai to Ahmedabad route on October 14, flight ticket prices range from Rs 18,518 to Rs 29,200 according to MakeMyTrip. Similarly, for the Delhi-Ahmedabad route, airfare for one person ranges from Rs 9,000 to Rs 25,000, with return tickets starting at Rs 7,000 for October 16. From Chennai to Ahmedabad, the ticket prices start from Rs 9,598 for October 14, and the return fare on October 16 starts from Rs 13,848.

The Kolkata-Ahmedabad route has flight tickets starting from Rs 23,000, while the Ahmedabad-Kolkata flight prices range from Rs 15,457 to over Rs 30,000. For flights between Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, the cost ranges between Rs 8,215 and Rs 20,000 for one way, and fans will have to spend anywhere between Rs 9,799 and Rs 35,000 for a return ticket.
The surge in airfare is a common trend during September-October due to the start of the festive season. However, the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan has led to an exponential increase in flight ticket prices.
