India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Match on June 9- Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to Play

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to play the T20 World Cup 2024

The BCCI faces a challenging situation with the IPL 2024 Schedule as the India Cricket Team kicks off their T20 World Cup campaign on June 4. To meet the ICC’s seven-day gap requirement, the IPL 2024 Final must be conducted by May 27. The anticipated India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup clash is likely to take place on June 9 in New York, with India starting their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

The BCCI faces a tough situation with the IPL schedule due to the India General Elections in April-May. They have a 58-day window to conclude the tournament, adding another layer of complexity to the planning process.

The BCCI aims to commence IPL 2024 on March 22, with a potential final date of May 19. However, any alterations due to elections could put the Indian board under significant pressure. IPL 2024 is set to be squeezed between the India vs England Test series and the T20 World Cup 2024.

Following the conclusion of the IND vs ENG Test series on March 11, players will have a brief 10-day rest before diving into the high-intensity IPL 2024. The BCCI faces the challenge of ensuring a minimum 10-day gap between the IPL and T20 World Cup to allow adequate recovery for the players.

Following the conclusion of the IND vs AFG bilateral T20I series, IPL 2024 serves as the ultimate trial for squad selection. Given the absence of further T20I series, the BCCI Selection Committee members are currently in South Africa, engaging with Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to identify and shortlist 25-30 players for the mega event in West Indies and USA, emphasizing the need to avoid any risks related to injuries.
