India Women defeated Pakistan Women in a thrilling encounter in their first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. India Women were chasing 150 runs to win the game but found themselves in a pinch in the last four overs with more than 40 runs left to score to achieve the victory. However, Jemimah Rodriguez and Richa Ghosh held their nerve and attacked Pakistani Women’s bowler to ultimately win the game with an over left to bowl.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan Women won the toss and opted to bat first. Their start with the bat was not great as both the openers fell quite early. However, Bismah Maroof played an unbeaten knock of 66 off 55 to help Pakistan Women put a competitive total of 149/4 on the scoreboard.

Bismah Maroof was helped by Ayesha Naseem through a flamboyant unbeaten knock. Naseem scored 43 off 25 with the help of two fours and two sixes.
