Ishant Sharma, who played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, has made a surprising revelation about Dhoni’s behavior on the field. Contrary to the popular belief of Dhoni’s calm demeanor, Sharma stated that the former captain would often use abusive language during matches.

MS Dhoni, known for his composed nature during his playing days, was a respected captain and a skilled wicketkeeper-batsman. He rarely showed signs of anger or frustration on the field and enjoyed a successful 15-year career, playing a pivotal role in securing victories for Team India. Dhoni remains the only captain to have won all three ICC white-ball trophies.

In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Ishant Sharma, who shared the dressing room with Dhoni and played over 150 matches under his leadership, shed light on his experiences.

Contrary to Dhoni’s public image, Sharma revealed that Dhoni would frequently use foul language on the field. This revelation adds a new dimension to the perception of Dhoni’s temperament.

Sharma expressed, “Mahi bhai has many strengths, but being calm and cool isn’t one of them. He often uses abusive language on the field, and I’ve heard it firsthand. Whether it’s during the IPL or with the Indian team, people are always around him. It feels like being in a village, just missing the trees.”

Sharma went on to share an incident during a Test match, saying, “After I finished bowling, Mahi bhai asked me, ‘Are you tired?’ I replied, ‘Yes, a lot.’ Then he said, ‘Son, you’re getting old, quit.’ I have never seen Mahi bhai angry, except when he threw the ball, and it went down. When he threw it the first time, I saw that look. The second throw was even stronger, and the ball went down. The third throw, he said, ‘Hit it in the hand.’ He said it with an expletive.”

Ishant Sharma, with an impressive record of 105 Test matches, 80 ODIs, and 14 T20Is, where he has taken 311, 115, and 8 wickets respectively, last represented the Indian team in November 2021 during a Test series against New Zealand. His insights into playing alongside Dhoni provide a unique perspective on the former captain’s personality and on-field behavior.
