Openers: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan

The opening combination for India will feature skipper Rohit Sharma alongside the promising young talent, Shubman Gill. Having emerged as a dependable choice after Shikhar Dhawan’s departure, Gill’s consistency has solidified his position in the ODI squad. Joining them is the dynamic left-handed batter, Ishan Kishan, who also serves as the backup wicketkeeper. Kishan showcased his skills in the recent ODI series against West Indies, contributing to India’s series victory.

Batters: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma

The crucial number three spot will be occupied by former captain Virat Kohli, known for his imposing batting prowess. Expected to follow are Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul at positions four and five, respectively, both known for their exceptional records in those slots. While Rahul’s participation is anticipated in the Asia Cup, Iyer’s return from a back injury remains uncertain. Should Iyer not recover in time, the emerging talent Tilak Varma could step in as the replacement of Shreyas Iyer. Additionally, the consistent performances of Suryakumar Yadav make him a strong contender for a spot in the final 15.
