IPL 2022, DC VS SRH: Warner, Powell power DC to victory

DC vs SRH at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai was a high-scoring game. David Warner, the former captain for SRH in IPL, scored a brilliant unbeaten 92* to power Delhi beyond the 200 run mark to secure the victory against his old teammates. Rovman Powell also blasted an unbeaten 67* in the game.

DC vs SRH Highlights:

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first. Rishabh Pant announced that Delhi had made four changes to its playing XI, and Anrich Nortje is making his return to the side.

Playing XIs:

DC: David Warner, Mandeep Singh, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Ripal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje

SRH: Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Sean Abbott, Shreyas Gopal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kartik Tyagi, Umran Malik

DC Inning:

Delhi Capitals did not get the start they would have hoped for as Mandeep Singh departed without adding any run to the scoreboard. Mitchell Marsh looked, but in the end, a soft caught and bowled dismissal became his reason to go back into the dressing room.

At strategic time break before the 9th over, Delhi was 69/2, with Warner striking the bowl with great timing and Rishabh Pant struggling on the other end. However, Pant smashed three consecutive sixes off Shreyas Gopal to regain the momentum.

Shreyas had the final last laugh because he dismissed Pant on the last ball of his over. Pant contributed 26 off 16.

Rovman Powell replaced Pant in the middle and carried on the tempo set by Pant and Warner. Both Powell and Warner destroyed the Sunrisers bowlers by constantly amassing boundaries all over the ground. Both of them remained not out, and Delhi finished on  207/3 in the DC vs SRH clash.

SRH Inning:

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the game during the powerplay itself. They were going at such a slow pace that it almost became impossible for the middle order to compensate for it during their chase. Abhishek Sharma 7 off 6 while Kane Williamson consumed 11 balls for scoring only 4 runs. Rahul Tripathi played some food shots but could only manage 22 runs.

Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran had a partnership that seemed to take SRH close to the target, but Markram’s departure ended all hope for Hyderabad. Markram scored 42 off 25, while Pooran contributed 62 off 34. Ultimately SRH fell short by 21 runs to lose the game.
